Two Injured in South Natomas Shooting Incident

Two people were injured during a shooting incident just after 2:15 p.m. Friday in the River Gardens neighborhood of Natomas.

The incident occurred on the 700 block of Northfield Drive near Ninos Park.

At the scene, officers located one victim who sustained at least one gunshot wound. That victim, a male adult, was transported to a hospital for treatment and was reported to be in stable condition. A second victim had been physically assaulted and sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

According to scanner traffic, two people were transported to a local hospital for injuries related to the incident.

A woman with four young children was evacuated from at least one apartment at the scene.

The Sacramento Police Department and SWAT established a perimeter in the area for several hours. Per scanner traffic, law enforcement conducted an apartment-by-apartment search with the assistance of K-9 units and drones, but were unable to locate the suspected shooter.

The streets were reopened at about 9:15 p.m.

According to police spokesperson Officer Ryan Woo, detectives responded to the scene to assist and the circumstances of the incident remain under investigation.

At press time, the shooter remains at large.
