The Natomas Unified School District will provide free meals to all children 18 and under during campus closures.

The school district earlier today announced all its traditional campuses will be closed Friday, March 13 and Monday, March 16 in accordance with state health recommendations to reduce possible exposure and transmission of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

Natomas Charter and Westlake Charter schools will also be closed; Natomas Pacific Pathways Prep campuses are also closed March 13 and will observe its spring break as planned March 16-27.

The district’s Nutrition Services Department will provide families a chance to pick up lunch and breakfast for the following day in a mobile walk up or drive-thru meal service. This opportunity will be offered on both Friday and Monday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at five school sites:

  • Witter Ranch Elementary
  • Natomas Park Elementary
  • American Lakes School
  • Jefferson School

The mobile walk up or drive-thru meal program will only be to pick up of meals and meals will not be eaten on-site.

“We encourage families to continue to be proactive in reducing the risk of COVID-19 by not congregating at the school site and utilizing social distancing once meals have been distributed,” read a message sent by the district.
