The California Backyard store in Natomas is closing and will reportedly relocate near Walmart in Elk Grove.
The store currently occupies 12,700 square feet in the Park Place II shopping center which is located at 4710 Natomas Boulevard, in Suite 190, off Del Paso Road.
Nearly 65,000 square feet of space is already vacant at the center anchored by Marshalls and Kohls, including the old Borders and Bed, Bath & Beyond stores.
California Backyard specializes in outdoor products and Christmas trees. Currently there four stores in the greater Sacramento area and one in Reno, Nevada.
California Backyard was rumored to close five years ago, but it remained open. Sources say the store is closing now for lack of local customers.
