Baby Left at Truck Stop in Natomas

Woman arrested for leaving infant at a truck stop in Natomas Sunday.

At about 5:20 p.m. Sunday an employee at a local truck stop located on the 2800 block of El Centro Road, contacted the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department to report that a baby had been left in a carrier on the sidewalk at the location.

Deputies responded to find truck stop employees caring for a 6-week-old female infant.

Witnesses reported seeing a male and female subject with the infant earlier who both went separate ways and left the location approximately 45 minutes earlier.

The child was transported to the UCD Medical Center to be medically evaluated.

Nearly 90 minutes later, the mother of the infant returned to the scene.

Christina Reed, 36, of Lake County was questioned and arrested for felony child endangerment. The father of the child is being sought by detectives for questioning.

The infant has been placed in protective custody with Child Protective Services.
