It could have been a spoiler game for Inderkum High softball.

The Lady Tigers came into Tuesday’s Tri-County Conference league game with a 1-5 record – the exact opposite of Woodland High School.

Despite having runners in scoring position in six of the seven innings, Inderkum didn’t score a run until the seventh inning and lost the game 8-2.

“We lost this one because of errors and leaving too many girls on base,” Inderkum head coach Adolfo Coronado said.

Despite committing five errors, Inderkum (5-11-1 overall, 1-6 TCC) trailed just 3-0 after five innings thanks to a strong start by senior Cailin Garmon on the mound.

The senior struck out six batters in the first three innings, but her arm tired and gave up a hit, and walked two batters while hitting another two in a four-run sixth inning for Woodland High (12-7, 6-1).

“Most of the time, she fights through it,” Coronado said.

Garmon scored the first run for Inderkum in the seventh inning and Lynael Baluyot scored on a Woodland High throwing error.

Freshman Amelia Hicks went 2-for-3 for Inderkum and Kaelissa Guzman and Vanessa Epperson-Doyle got hits in the middle innings. Jazmine Love-Wright made a run-saving stop at second base for Inderkum in the fourth inning.

Woodland High pitcher Kelsey Goodner struck out 13 batters in the complete game win.

Inderkum is on the road at River Valley High School on Thursday.
