Sacramento police broke up a street race early this morning in Natomas.
At about 12:29 a.m. Saturday, officers responded to a report of sounds of vehicles racing in the area of Del Paso Road and National Drive.
Upon the officers’ arrival numerous people in vehicles were located who began to flee the area.
Officers observed a vehicle fleeing at a high rate of speed with no headlights on. The driver was contacted, cited for reckless driving, and his vehicle towed.
Area residents frequently complain of late-night races on north Natomas streets. Vehicles have also been observed racing during the day time.
