Burglaries Down, But Robberies On The Rise

Crime statistics released yesterday by Sac PD Capt. Daniel Hahn show the number of burglaries in Natomas are going down, but robberies are on the rise.
“The good news is they have gone down in the last couple of weeks, but we have to continue to be vigilant in our efforts to prevent/reduce/solve the robberies in Natomas,” said Hahn in a community-wide e-mail message. “Most of the statistics are going in the right direction – down. Keep up the good work!”

In North Natomas:

  • Residential Burglaries went up 18% (16 to 19). Although they are down year to date by 33%.
  • Business burglaries went down 63% (11 to 4).
  • Vehicle burglaries went down 32% (50 to 34)
  • Stolen cars went down 15% (20 to 17)
  • Robberies (unspecified) went up from 0 to 5. They are up 200% so far this year (2 to 6)

In South Natomas:
  • Residential burglaries are down 50% (22 to 11)
  • Business burglaries went up from 0 to 6.
  • Vehicle burglaries went down 33% (24 to 16)
  • Stolen cars went down 20% (15 to 12)
  • Robberies (unspecified) went down 40% (5 to 3)
In Northgate/Gardenland:
  • Residential burglaries went up 12 % (8 to 9)
  • Business burglaries went up from 0 to 2.
  • Vehicle burglaries went down 25% (8 to 6)
  • Stolen cars went up 55% (9 to 14)
  • Robberies (unspecified) went up 100% (1 to 2)
The statistics are preliminary and compare February of 2010 to February 2009.
