More Houses Slated For Sacramento Region?

ABANDONED, UNFINISHED & “MOTHBALLED” RESIDENTIAL BUILDING PROJECTS IN NORTH AND SOUTH NATOMAS.

Yesterday’s Sac Bee article “If Sacramento area’s housing climate ever revives, builders are ready” got us thinking — again — about plans to keep building homes in our region.

At a time when a high percentage of homes sit vacant and hundreds more are on the verge of foreclosure, how is it anyone can think building more is a good idea? When the economy turns around, home buyers would do well to consider existing inventory.

Should this current surplus dry up, we hope developers and builders alike would look first at finishing projects already started (see photos). And that city and county officials would support these efforts instead of annexing more land and revamping the General Plan to allow for more development.

  1. A few months ago the Bee reported 24,000 – yes, THOUSAND empty homes in Sacramento. With more layoffs and foreclosures since then one has to wonder what kind of scam the developers and banks are planning on next. Selling vacation time shares to workers in China? BAS
