A rash copper wire thefts occurred June through August in the North Area of Sacramento. Hundreds of feet of copper wire have been stolen from street lights.
Thieves pry open the bottom of the light pole and pull out the copper wire. One incident occurred near the new Hight Learning Center campus.
Most of these crimes occurred between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. on Sunday and Tuesday nights.
There was one of these near Hight Elementary about a month ago. Keep an eye out for suspicious characters — they have to carry around this wire after it is stolen or put it in some sort of car.
Call Sac PD and/or your neighborhood security detail to report suspicious activity.
