New cases of COVID-19 have steadily increased for three consecutive weeks among those who reside in Natomas zip codes, according to data released this week by Sacramento County Public Health officials.

Between June 28 and July 6, new confirmed COVID-19 cases in Natomas zip codes 95833, 95834 and 95835 numbered 70, up from 57 cases logged for the June 21 to June 28 reporting period.

Less than a month ago, there were only 26 new cases for the June 14 to June 21 reporting period — the lowest number of new cases among Natomas-area residents posted by Sacramento County since June 22, 2020.

Countywide the number of new COVID-19 cases and hospitalization numbers have also seen an increase.

Sacramento County health officials are tracking a rise in variant cases, particularly the Alpha and Delta variants, however that data is not broken down by zip code.

The number of breakthrough cases among those individuals who have already been vaccinated against COVID-19 is also trending upward countywide. Again that data is not available by zip code.

The county is also not posting breakthrough cases by variant on its website.

County data shows the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Natomas since April 7, 2020 is now 8,221 of those who live in the 95833, 95834 and 95835 zip codes.

Natomas is estimated to have a population of 110,000, according to data on the U.S. Census Bureau website.

The Natomas Unified School District is hosting a pop-up vaccination clinic on July 9 for students and staff who want to get vaccinated before the new school year. For information on area COVID-19 vaccination clinics and how to sign up visit https://bit.ly/VaxNatomasJuly.
