Natomas Kicks Off Holidays at Annual Event

The weather did not deter Natomas residents from attending the 2019 Holiday Tree Lighting event held Friday, Dec. 6.

The annual event was held at the South Natomas Community Center. It was hosted by the Natomas Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Gardenland-Northgate Neighborhood Association, Mrs. T’s Cafe and Natomas Community Association which provided cookies and hot chocolate.

Attendees made handcrafts and decorated cookies in Santa’s Workshop while listening to the talented Natomas High School Drum Corps perform. Mr. Claus’ arrived via Sacramento Police cruiser due to a broken down sleigh just as it started to rain again.

City councilmembers Steve Hansen, Jeff Harris and Angelique Ashby led the countdown to the tree lighting with chamber president Jeff Beckman. The evening festivities ended with visits with Santa Claus.

The evening included handcrafts and cookie decorating activities.

Youngsters of all ages enjoyed the tasty efforts of their cookie decorating.

The award-winning Nighthawks drum corps performed for the crowd.
