The city will officially open the second of three new Natomas-area parks this weekend.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned for 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Valley Oak Park on Saturday, Feb. 21 at 2780 Mabry Drive.

The festivities are being coordinated by Mayor Pro Tem Angelique Ashby’s office and the public is invited to attend.

Valley Oak Park features a group picnic area, soccer fields and a bank shot court. It is one of three new parks the city is officially unveiling in Natomas this month and next.

A grand-opening event was held last week at Dogwood Park, which is located at Macon and Bankside ways, and a celebration is planned for 10 a.m. on March 7 for Wild Rose Park at 5200 Kankakee Drive.

The park events are free and refreshments will be served.
