The Sacramento Police Department has arrested Donald Chapman, 31, on suspicion.

Chapman is accused of the shooting early Tuesday which resulted in the death of 44-year-old Dale Botta.

On Nov. 4 at about 3:38 a.m., police officers responded to the 100 block of Saginaw Circle on reports of shots fired and a subject down.

Upon their arrival, officers found Botta inside of the residence suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Sacramento Fire personnel also responded and declared Botta dead at the scene.

Detectives determined the suspected shooter was known to the victim and had fled the scene immediately after the incident. Police said it was a verbal altercation between Botta and Chapman which escalated.

One day later, Sacramento Police detectives were tipped off to Chapman’s whereabouts. Chapman was taken into custody without incident, in Vallejo, CA on Wednesday, Nov. 5 and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on the charge of murder.
