Three graduating seniors have been awarded journalism scholarships by THE NATOMAS BUZZ.

The Natomas-area students worked as interns for the online newspaper during the 2013-14 school year.

Inderkum graduate Valentine Carrillo, of north Natomas, joined THE NATOMAS BUZZ in July 2013 and wrote a wide range of articles. Carrillo plans to attend the University of Southern California in the fall where she will study music industry.

Natomas High graduate Ojaswi Adhikari, of south Natomas, interned for THE NATOMAS BUZZ her junior and senior years. Adhikari covered both stories at both Natomas and Discovery high schools. She has accepted admission at the University of California at Berkeley where she plans to study political science and human rights.

All three interns have plans to continue pursuing their interest in journalism.

This is the third year THE NATOMAS BUZZ has awarded journalism scholarships to select “buzz-worthy” interns. To date, more than $1,000 in scholarships has been awarded to senior interns upon their graduation. This year is first three students have received scholarships.

THE NATOMAS BUZZ offers internship opportunities to area high school and college students in an effort to provide learning opportunities and teach best practices in journalism.
