A $26,000 Chevrolet engine has been donated to the Universal Technical Institute campus in Natomas by the widow of Ron Whitman, a former field admissions technician at the school.

Judy Whitman presented the big-block 454 to the technical school where her husband worked, during a special ceremony held Tuesday July 2 at UTI. Whitman said the best place for the engine would be the classroom.

Ron Whitman, a Natomas resident, died last year. The ceremony also included the unveiling of a plaque in his honor.
