After a  competitive nomination period, voting is now open and Hazel Strauch Elementary needs help to win up to $50,000 in The Clorox Company’s Power A Bright Future grant program.

Strauch is an elementary school serving approximately 600 students in Natomas. In spite of the socio-economic challenges, the PK-5 school has reported success in educating its students and providing extra-curricular support.

In 2010, Strauch received a Title 1 Academic Achievement Award. Unfortunately, due to budget cuts, many of the extra programs that traditionally have been available to students have been cut this year, most notably the music program.

The Power A Bright Future grant will enable Strauch to reinstate its music program and once again give students the opportunity to wake-up the creativity inside of them. The funds from the grant would be used to re-hire a music teacher who would offer weekly music instruction to each class at the school.

Students would have an opportunity to sing, play instruments, and perform in front of their peers and parents.

Help Strauch secure funding for the school’s Music Program by visiting www.PowerABrightFuture.com or texting Clorox0663 to 44144** and voting once per day per person through Dec. 9, for Strauch.
