Police Seek Leads For Burnt Natomas Playground

During the three-day Memorial Day weekend, Twin Rivers Police and Sac City Fire received calls from citizens reporting a fire at Hazel Strauch Elementary School at 3141 Northstead Drive. Officers and firefighters responded to find a playground structure fully engulfed in flame.

“It’s very sad, but hopefully with some help we can get a new structure up for our kids before school starts next fall,” said Trinette Marquis,Director of Communication for the Twin Rivers Unified School District.

Arson investigators examined the cause of the fire which had destroyed the structure. There are no known suspects or witnesses and the cost of the damage is unknown at this time.
