Officer Shoots Armed Suspect In North Natomas

A Sac police officer early this morning shot an armed 37-year-old male in the leg who was involved in a domestic dispute in North Natomas.

At 3:38 a.m. this morning, officers responded to a domestic disturbance call between a man and his spouse on the 3400 block of Lumley Lane. The suspect was throwing things in the house, threatening his wife, and shot his gun at the ceiling.

As police officers arrived on the scene, people leaving the house said the suspect was armed with a gun and threatening to kill people. Officers saw a male standing at the door armed with a gun.

The suspect did not follow officers’ orders to drop the gun and turned to walk back into the house. The police shot the suspect before he could hurt others still inside.

The suspect was taken into custody without further incident and transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The investigation is ongoing to determine the applicable criminal charges the suspect will face.

As a matter of policy, the officer involved will be placed on paid administrative leave while the circumstances surrounding the incident are investigated. The nine occupants of the house were unharmed.
