Crime Up Last Month In Northgate/Gardenland Area

The number of burglaries, stolen cars and robberies climbed in the Northgate/Gardenland area of Natomas last month, according to numbers released Friday by the Sacramento Police Department.
The preliminary crime statistics compare May 2009 to May 2010 also show robberies in North Natomas and South Natomas continue to increase. The most common areas for these crimes are Truxel and West El Camino and Truxel and San Juan Road.

“We are working in both of these areas to significantly reduce the robberies,” wrote police Capt. Daniel Hahn on his electronic community crime report. “Call in all suspicious activities you see!”

The statistics also show in:

North Natomas
  • Residential burglaries went down 5% (19 to 18).
  • Business burglaries went down 15% (7 to 6).
  • Vehicle burglaries went down 2% (44 to 43).
  • Stolen cars went down 48% (37 to 19).
  • Robberies (unspecified) went up 500% (1 to 6).  Robberies have been up every month this year after January.
South Natomas
  • Residential burglaries went up 23% (13 to 16)
  • Business burglaries went down 20% (5 to 4).
  • Vehicle burglaries went down 26% (23 to 17).
  • Stolen cars went down 10% (19 to 17).
  • Robberies (unspecified) went up 700% (1 to 8).  This is the highest month for robberies so far this year.
Northgate/Gardenland
  • Residential burglaries went up 150% (4 to 10)
  • Business burglaries went up 25% (4 to 5).
  • Vehicle burglaries went up 71% (7 to 12)
  • Stolen cars went up 37% (8 to 11).
  • Robberies (unspecified) went up 500% (1 to 6)
