Updated: Home Invasion Turns Deadly

Sac PD is investigating a home invasion where the suspects shot and killed one person in South Natomas last night.*


At 11:19 p.m. on March 26, officers responded to the 2600 block of River Plaza Drive, near Garden Highway, on a call that a person had been shot. Officers arrived and found a 26-year-old Hispanic male shot and declared him dead at the scene.

Based on the preliminary investigation, detectives believe two male victims were inside their apartment when two armed suspects entered. The victim’s friend arrived at the apartment, interrupting the suspects as they were committing the home invasion. The suspects shot the friend and fled on foot.

The suspects are described as male Blacks, late teens to early twenties, wearing dark hooded sweatshirts, and blue jeans.

    This tragedy touches many of us in Natomas outside the immediate family and friends of the young victim, because he was the 26 year old son of our Natomas Unified School District Board member Sue Heredia. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.
