You Asked, We Got The Answer

I’m curious if you know anything about the redwood trees at the detention basin at North Park and Natomas Blvd. They are about 7 years old, and many appear to be diseased with growths, and are either dead or dying.

I do not know what the problem is, but we are attempting this week to try and save the remaining branches on all the trees possible. They will probably look a little funny for a bit, but we hope come the spring time, they will again start to fill in. We are trimming all the unknown, growths off the trees. Hope this helps a bit.

  1. Redwood trees are not native to the Sacramento area and have very short life spans in the area. No amount of babying will save the trees, short of cooler summers and replacing the soil dozens of feet down. Nature does not always do what man wants, and generally knows what is best for living organisms.
