Updated: In The News: Guess Who Reads NATOMAS BUZZ

The Sac Bee and Sacramento Biz Journal both printed stories similar to this one. While some may say “imitation is the highest form of flattery” THE BUZZ clearly recalls Journalism 101 class where we learned about citing sources… Wouldn’t it be nice if this were the case with Sactown media?

KCRA 3 News is reporting what THE BUZZ previously revealed to our readers…

Economy Blamed For Natomas Eatery’s Demise

Construction Halted At Sonic, T.G.I. Friday’s

POSTED: 10:32 am PDT October 27, 2008

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — One restaurant in Natomas closing while construction is on hold for two others that were originally scheduled to be built a couple of years ago.

The Pei Wei Chinese restaurant chain is closing 10 of its under-performing locations, including one in the Target shopping center on North Freeway Boulevard.

The company said it doesn’t look like business in the area will turn around anytime soon.

At the intersection of Truxel Road and Gateway Park Boulevard, construction has been halted for a Sonic drive-thru and a T.G.I. Friday’s, which were scheduled to open two years ago.

Sonic blames the slowing economy for not completing the project. It plans to finish its Lincoln location first.

Comments

  1. I think its terrible that these two companies can leave shells of buildings on a very busy corner like that. It looks awful! I think it will attract crime, too.

  2. Closures reported by the BUZZ in the last week are reported in today’s BEE. Would be nice if they gave credit for where their story idea came from.BAS

  3. Well, if the didnt at least START them they wouldnt be able to start them until after the building freeze for the whole flood certification thing. I think we are going to see a lot of half started projects in the next few months as builders try to squeeze in under the deadline.

  4. I hope we don’t see a bunch of half completed buildings in our area. We don’t need to invite more crime here.

  5. They don’t have to start anything, just pull the permits. They can build anytime after that. Trixie

  6. I heard a rumor from a reliable source that said “Bella Bru” will be next to close its doors. This is just sad.
