Sacramento Police reportedly have a suspect in custody in connection with an early-morning shooting which took place Thursday in Natomas.

Just after 5 a.m. this morning, Oct. 14, police officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 1100 block of West El Camino Avenue, according to police spokesperson Officer Karl Chan.

Upon their arrival, officers found one adult male who had been shot. The victim was transported to a local hospital and is expected to survive his injuries, Chan said.

The incident appeared to be a robbery attempt, or a “home invasion,” police Lt. Joshua Dobson told those attending a Gardenland Northgate Neighborhood Association meeting via Zoom on Thursday evening.

The incident was isolated and a suspect in custody, Dobson reported.

No suspect information was available at press time and the circumstances of the shooting remain under investigation.
