One Dead After Shooting at Natomas Marketplace

One man is dead after shots were heard near the Natomas Marketplace shopping center Monday night.

At about 8:34 p.m. Monday, Sep. 28 the Sacramento Police Department received a report of an unresponsive man found lying in the parking lot near Home Depot following the sound of gunfire.

Responding officers located the man, in his 50s, who appeared to have suffered apparent gunshot injuries to his upper body.

Sacramento Fire medical personnel arrived on scene, and despite life-saving efforts, pronounced the victim deceased.

Homicide Detectives along with Crime Scene Investigators were called to begin processing the scene, collecting evidence, and canvassing the area.

Investigators determined that the unknown suspect(s) had fled from the area immediately following the shooting.

Police detectives said they do not believe the shooting is a random act, but a specific motive for the incident has not been determined.

No arrests have been made, according to police spokesperson Officer Justin Brown, and the investigation is on-going.
