THE NATOMAS BUZZ | @natomasbuzz

Preparing for disasters will be the focus of two town halls scheduled in Natomas this week.

The town halls are meant to help area residents get information about what to do in the event of an emergency.

The first town hall is set for 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28 in the multipurpose room at the H. Allen Hight Learning Center, 3200 North Park Drive.

The second is set for 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30 at the South Natomas Community Center, 2921 Truxel Road.

Both town halls will feature exhibits, demonstrations and brochures from several agencies including:

  • Sacramento Area Flood Control Agency
  • Reclamation District 1000
  • Sacramento Police Department
  • Sacramento Fire Department
  • Animal Care Services
  • Community Development Department
  • Department of Utilities
  • and local school districts

Town hall participants are meant to go home with plans they can put into action in the event of an emergency.

The town halls are sponsored by Mayor Pro Tem Angelique Ashby, who represents north Natomas on the Sacramento city council, and Councilman Jeff Harris, whose district includes the Gardenland/Northgate corridor and most South Natomas neighborhoods.
