Motorists are urged to use the eastbound Capital City Freeway – also known as Business 80 – to avoid long traffic delays on eastbound Interstate 80 in north Sacramento.

According to traffic app Sigalert, eastbound traffic has slowed to 15 mph from Truxel Road east to Longview Drive.

Eastbound Interstate 80 has been reduced to two lanes and ramp access closed at the Winters Street on-ramp and Longview Drive off-ramp through 5 a.m. Monday, March 23 due to mainline construction work.

The far left eastbound “Express Lanes” has also been reduced to one lane near Winters Street.

A contractor is scheduled to perform demolition and pavement work and install approach concrete slab work for the Del Paso Bridge.

Traffic is expected to be very heavy eastbound throughout the “80 Across the Top” project from Interstate 5 to Watt Avenue.
