Sacramento Police are searching for a man suspected of stabbing his roommate to death last night in Natomas.

At about 10:55 p.m. Monday, Feb. 23, police received a 911 call regarding a man who had been stabbed inside of a residential apartment near the 3300 block of Arena Boulevard in Natomas.

The victim, a man in his 20s, was found by responding officers to be suffering from multiple apparent stab wounds. The alleged assailant was quickly identified as the victim’s roommate who had fled from the area prior to police arrival. The Sacramento County Coroner later identified the victim as Zachary Edward Kane, 23, originally from Santa Rosa.

Air support responded to the scene, but officers were unable to locate the suspect.

Paramedics transported the victim to an area hospital where he received emergency medical treatment, but later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

Homicide detectives along with Crime Scene Investigators were called to the scene to assist with the investigation.

During a preliminary investigation, which included interviewing numerous witnesses, detectives identified the victim’s roommate, 24-year-old Aaron Ramzy (pictured), as the person believed to be responsible for the assault.

Ramzy is described as a black male adult, approximately 6’2”, 159 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a red, black, and white knit cap and a flannel shirt that was black or red in color. The suspect may have left the scene riding a red Schwinn bicycle.

The Sacramento Police Department considers Ramzy to be armed and dangerous. Please notify law enforcement immediately if you have information regarding his whereabouts.
