Sacramento City Fire quickly knocked down a suspicious house fire Sunday night in Natomas.

Fire fighters from Stations 30, 43 and 17 responded to the scene of a single-family home fire at about 9 p.m. August 14 in the Regency Park neighborhood, near Alicia and Caddington ways.

The fire reportedly started in a bedroom and fire crews cut into the roof to access and douse the flames.

Neighbors said the home had been vacant for several months, but had recently been occupied by squatters.

Fire fighters found a couch in the living room and scant furnishings in the bedroom where the fire reportedly started.
