Publisher’s note: The Sacramento-Yolo Mosquito and Vector Control District plane was needed at another location and aerial spraying over north Natomas was cancelled for August 27, 2014. The district, instead, sprayed the area for mosquitoes by truck.

Aerial spraying for mosquitoes has been scheduled for rice fields north of Natomas tonight.

The Sacramento-Yolo Mosquito and Vector Control District said on Tuesday the agency has scheduled an aerial application of mosquito pesticides for 8:30 p.m. to 12 a.m. tonight, August 27.

“As with previous treatments, while we are targeting the rice fields, depending on weather conditions the plane may make a few passes over the homes so residents may be able to hear and see the plane above,” read a notice issued Tuesday by the Sacramento-Yolo Mosquito and Vector Control District.

The area being targeted are rice fields located north of Elkhorn Boulevard, including zip codes 95626, 95673, 95835, 95836 and 95837. A map and additional information will be posted on the agency’s website and sent via email and/or text message to those who have signed up.
