Three Natomas Unified School District athletes were named to the girl’s golf all-conference team today for the Tri-County Conference.

Claire Doughty and Amelia Hicks from Inderkum High School and Lucia Rojas, pictured, from Natomas High School were named to the all-conference team, which consists of seven players from the six-team conference for the 2012 season.

“Lucia played really well all year, including a personal best 49 when we play Yuba City at Plumas Lake,” Natomas athletic director and girl’s golf head coach Anthony Agrella said. “She improved throughout the year, as did all of our girls.”

Said Inderkum head coach Eric Fong, “Claire Doughty provided our team with senior experience and much needed leadership, as the rest of team underclassmen. Claire finished sixth in the TCC out of 30. Amelia Hicks, a freshman, was our top scorer, finished number 2 in league.”

Inderkum finished second overall behind Woodland and Natomas finished fourth.

“I am very proud of our team this year,” Fong said. “This year we had the most depth with ten girls on the team. The depth kept our team very competitive as each girl had to qualify each week in the top six.”

Sara Scarlett of Woodland was named the conference MVP.

Division III Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs begin Monday, Oct. 22 at 9 a.m. at Yolo Flyers Club in Woodland. The Tigers will compete in the section playoffs for the third time in the last five seasons after finishing 8-2 in the regular season.
