NATOMAS HIGH SCHOOL

Football: Despite getting out to a 13-6 lead at the end of the first quarter, the Nighthawks lost a non-league home game to Pondersosa 56-13 last Friday.

This Friday night, Natomas (0-4) hits the road against Foothill for the team final tune-up before Tri-County play begins Oct. 5 at Woodland.

Kickoff against Foothill (0-4) is set for 7:30 p.m. Much like Natomas, the Mustangs haven’t been able to get into the win column. Foothill was shut out 35-0 against Rio Linda two weeks ago.

Girl’s Volleyball: Opened Tri-County league action at home against Woodland on Tuesday and a road match at River Valley Thursday night. The lone match for the Nighthawks next week will be on the road Tuesday at Yuba City.

Boy’s Soccer: Nighthawks took care of River Valley on Monday night with a 7-2 victory and tied Pioneer 1-1 on Wednesday. Natomas (4-7-1 overall, 1-1-1 TCL) will be on the road Monday at Yuba City before a rivalry matchup against Inderkum on Wednesday, Oct. 3 at 7 p.m.

Girl’s Golf: Nighthawks finished fourth at the TCC Tournament No. 1 on Monday with a team score of 633. Natomas also dropped a 36-hole match against TCC rival Woodland (277-321) on Tuesday.

Girl’s Tennis: Nighthawks dropped a TCC match against Pioneer 5-4 on Tuesday. No. 1 doubles team of seniors Nehaa Khadka and Alexandrea Tinoco won in straight sets (6-4, 6-4).

INDERKUM HIGH SCHOOL

Football: After dropping the first game of the season to Rocklin last Friday on the road, the No. 9 Tigers (3-1) host Terra Nova of Pacifica tonight at 7:30 p.m. during homecoming week. Head coach Terry Stark hopes that running back Josh Montes, the leading rusher for Inderkum in 2011, will be close to full strength tonight. Montes has been limited due to injuries through four games this season. His presence along with fellow senior back Eric Walters will bring even more fire power to the already strong running game.

Girl’s Volleyball: Tigers are still looking for the first notch in the win column this season after dropping a 3-0 match against Yuba City on Tuesday. Inderkum also played last night versus Woodland at home. The lone match next week will be against TCC favorite River Valley in Yuba City on Tuesday.

Boy’s Soccer: The Tigers dropped a TCC match against Woodland 4-0 on Monday. Inderkum (2-8-1, 0-2) played River Valley on Wednesday before a match against Pioneer on Monday, Oct. 1 and a rivalry match versus Natomas on the road on Wednesday night at 7 p.m.

Girl’s Golf: The Tigers finished in first place in the Tri County Conference Tournament No. 1 at Yolo Flyers Club. On the par-72 course, the Tigers finished with an overall score of 577. Second place Woodland finished with 594 team points. Amelia Hicks led Inderkum with a team-best 100 on Monday.

Girl’s Tennis:Tigers defeated TCC foe River Valley 5-4.
