New shade structures were delivered this morning to Regency Park in Natomas.

The structures will be the same kind that have been popping up over many of the playgrounds in District One, according to Michelle Kille, director of public policy for Vice Mayor Angelique Ashby.

Two shade canopies will be installed at Regency Park, one over each play structure at the south end of the park and will replace the current “shade sails.”

The city’s Parks Planning Division will discontinue use of shade sails over play structures. Shade canopies help reduce sun exposure and keep play equipment cool during hot months.
