BloodSource will hold a donation drive 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. THIS Saturday, June 30 at 3610 N. Freeway Blvd. in Sacramento Gateway shopping center.
FOX40 meteorologists Kristina Werner and Darren Peck along with 101.9 the Wolf will kick off a summer of saving lives – and have a little fun, too, giving a free movie pass to all donors.
Registered blood donors at the drive will be entered into drawings for concert tickets including American Idols (July 21, at Power Balance Pavilion), Martina McBride and the Jukebox Music Festival. One lucky donor will win a guitar from Skip’s Music signed by country music stars Carrie Underwood, Gloriana, Phil Vassar and others.
Participants may also join “Be the Match” marrow registry for free at the blood drive.
101.9 the Wolf will be at the drive entertaining donors with country music and the FOX40 SnoCone machine will be in high gear, cranking out cool treat. Donors will also be treated to snacks.
Summer time can be a challenging time to collect blood because regular blood donors are on vacation and students are out of school with no blood drives easily found on campus.
BloodSource has a goal to collect 700 units of blood every day because “the need for blood never takes a vacation.”
