Daniel Paul Perling
August 1, 1965 – May 27, 2012

Dan was born in Yucca Valley and moved to Los Angeles at the age of 6. He graduated from Los Angeles Lutheran High School, UCLA, and Concordia College, Irvine.

He and wife, Ellen, were married in 1990 and moved to Sacramento in 1993. Dan went to work for the Sacramento City Unified School District. The couple reside in Natomas where Ellen works as a teacher for the Natomas Unified School District.

Dan was a dedicated science teacher for over 20 years at Le Lycee Francais in Los Angeles; Kennedy High School in Sacramento; and Hiram Johnson High School in Sacramento. Dan retired early in 2012 due to illness.

He was a member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Beverly Hills and Peace Lutheran Church throughout his life. He served by teaching Bible class, Sunday school, and as an elder for many years.

Dan will be remembered for his love of his children and family, his passion for environmental causes, and his dedication to his church.

The Perling family is grateful for the care that Dan received from the UC Davis Cancer Center and the staff at University Post-Acute Rehab Center.

Daniel is survived by his wife, Ellen; their children Sarah and David; parents Rev. R. John and Karen Perling of Los Angeles; brother, Joseph Vaughn-Perling of Los Angeles (Victoria); sister, Becky Clausen of Los Angeles (James); brother, John Perling of Greenwich, CT (Heidi); and six nieces and nephews.
