The Sacramento Police Department has arrested 36-year-old Robert Thompson for the murder of an unidentified female earlier this week.

At about 6:29 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 14, officers responded to the 1000 block of Garden Highway on report of a badly burned body

The Sacramento Police Department’s Homicide Unit, Crime Scene Investigations Unit, and the Sacramento Fire Arson Investigators responded to the scene.

The body was found severely burned and as such, it will likely take time and alternative methods to make a positive identification of the deceased. Because identification has not yet been made, the relationship between the suspect and victim is not yet releasable.

Detectives did find the victim suffered upper body trauma, but the cause of death is yet to be determined. The investigation is ongoing.
