Two Rivers Students Recognized By NUSD

Two Rivers Elementary School students were recognized tonight, Dec. 14 at the Natomas Unified School District board meeting.

“A big congratulations to Amaya, Clara and Jakob for participating in the Two Rivers spelling and geography bee,” Principal Leslie Sargent said. “They spent many hours preparing for the bees. I am proud of them for their hard work and dedication. It was a long battle in both bees to determine at first and second place winner.”

Spelling bee finalists included Amaya Segundo and Clara Medina. Segundo placed first and will be advancing to the county written exam in January. Medina placed a close second.

After 25 minutes of difficult questions, Medina won the geography bee. She will be taking the college-level exam to see whether she will advance to the finals in Washington, D.C. Jakob Franco placed a close second.

Students in teacher Courtnay Kaump’s 5th grade class also shared several Veteran’s Day reports honoring family members during with the board.
