Sacramento city Councilwoman Angelique Ashby visited with 84 seniors at NP3 this morning to share the concept of “think globally, act locally.”

Ashby has ties with Natomas Pacific Pathways Prep school principal Tom Rutten whom she refers to the as “Coach Rutten.” The District 1 councilwoman is referring to Rutten’s past role as football coach at Sacramento High, where she attended high school.

During Ashby’s visit to the Natomas high school campus,  she talked about how she got to her current position on the city council and about getting involved in the local government.

Ashby invited students to participate in her youth advisory committee which works on issues concerning Natomas teens. The committee also participates in various events with Ashby around the city, such as the recent Veterans Day Parade.

Questions raised by the NP3 seniors during Ashby’s talk included the city’s plan to fix copper wiring, education reform and homelessness in the neighborhood.
