To date, a month-long fundraiser for Westlake Charter schools has raised $29,000.
More than 500 students are participating in the five-week effort which started Oct. 18 and ends Nov. 30.
A schoolwide, half-day “Olympic Triathlon” event was held last week at both Westlake campuses as part of the fundraiser. Students participated in three “events” including:
  • An art project highlighting an art form from the continent studied by each grade.
  • A game where teams were tested on their Spanish-language skills.
  • A P.E. obstacle course focusing on agility skills for younger students and Minute-To-Win-It” challenges for the older students.
Money raised as part of the Olympic Triathlon will be used to help keep class sizes small at both Westlake Charter and Westlake Charter Middle schools and help fund specialty classes such as Spanish, art and physical education.

A Olympic Triathlon closing ceremony is set for Dec. 7 with a student art show and awards program.
