Kudos: Natomas School Receives Food Safety Award

Sacramento County health officials have awarded Witter Ranch Elementary School a “2011 Food Safety Awards of Excellence” certificate.
The award is given each September by the Sacramento County Environmental Management Department to food facilities that have demonstrated consistent health and food safety practices. “Food Safety Awards of Excellence” certificates are given to food facilities which had no major violations in its three most recent health inspections
The county selected a food establishment from each supervisorial district to receive their certificate at today’s Board of Supervisors meeting: Witter Ranch Elementary School, Natomas; Chada Thai Cuisine, Sacramento; El Palmar Mexican Restaurant, Carmichael; Dianda’s Italian Bakery and Café, Fair Oaks; and Iron Wok, Elk Grove.

In 2011, nearly 800 facilities earned a Food Safety Awards of Excellence certificate countywide. The county’s Environmental Health Division inspects approximately 5,500 restaurants, retail markets, bakeries, bars and schools for food safety compliance annually. Inspections are unannounced and completed up to three times a year.
