Natomas Property Owners OK Tax

Natomas property owners have approved a new tax to help pay for levee improvements.
Nearly 85 percent of property owners who returned their ballots voted in favor of the supplemental assessment for the Natomas Levee Improvement Project. About 39 percent of ballots sent were returned; a simple majority of ballots returned were needed to approve the new tax.
City councilwoman Angelique Ashby, whose council district includes the affected property owners and who sits on the Sacramento Area Flood Control Agency board, was present at the special meeting where results were announced.
“I know it’s not fun to assess ourselves but this is a very important project that helps us protect our families,” Ashby said.

  1. Getting 85% of people to agree on anything is pretty impressive, let alone another assessment. I am glad that this passed so we’ll unlock the monies that will get all of this behind us.
