South Natomas Children’s Librarian Retires On Friday

MS. MARTHA READS TO CHILDREN DRESSED UP AS THE CAT IN THE HAT.
After working more than a decade as the South Natomas Library children’s librarian, Ms. Martha, has announced her retirement.

The library will celebrate Ms. Martha’s last day with an open house event 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Friday, Dec. 17.
“Hundreds, thousands even, of Natomas kids have gotten their introduction to the library from her classroom visits and library programs,” says H. Allen Hight teacher Ellen Perling. “It would be so wonderful if the children (and former children) who remember her would write notes or cards wishing her well, and drop them off at the S. Natomas library before Friday.”
Ms. Martha has worked at the South Natomas Library since it opened in 2001 and at a different branch before that. Those wishing to attend Friday’s festivities will need to come to the library’s back door and ring the doorbell to come in, as it does not open to the public until 1 p.m.

The South Natomas Library is located at 2901 Truxel Road.
