Officer Shoots, Kills Armed Suspect In Natomas

Sac PD spokesman Sgt. Norm Leong confirms a suspect armed with a knife was shot and killed this morning near an apartment complex on Truxel Road.

At 12 p.m. today, police expected Truxel Road to remain closed between Arena and Del Paso Road for a couple more hours while the incident is being investigated.

The shooting occurred shortly after 10 a.m. when Sac PD officers engaged a man who had a knife and refused to put down his weapon. Officers reportedly employed a taser stun gun, felling the man temporarily. The man got back almost immediately, lunging at the officers and was shot. He died at the scene.
Sac PD officers had been actively searching the North Natomas area for a man who reportedly held a knife to the throat of a teen attending a church youth group activity last night at Natomas Park Elementary School.
Sgt. Leong said officers have not yet confirmed the man shot this morning is the same individual being sought in last night’s incident.

  1. It was the same guy — who also wanted on a stabbing in Oroville the day before.
