Pei Wei Replacement Opens For Business In Natomas

Tokyo Steak House restaurant has opened for business in the spot formerly occupied by Pei Wei  in the Sacramento Gateway shopping center off North Freeway.

The new, family-owned eatery Tokyo Steakhouse is reportedly similar to Benihana. A permit to sell alcoholic beverages is still pending. Pei Wei closed abruptly in October 2008.

  1. Just ate at Tokyo Steak House tonight. Half the restaurant is formal dining and the other half is teppan yaki (where the food is cooked in front of you just like at Benihana). We chose the teppan yaki and the food was great. The chef was entertaining just like the ones at Benihana. And the prices are cheaper than I remember them from the last time I was at Benihana. I think the restaurant is off to a great start and I hope it survives.

  2. We tried it tonight, on the “dining” side. Salad was a disgrace, and there is better sushi in Sacramento, but the halibut was good. Service was also good. We’ll give them another chance, though, and hope the kitchen does a better job next time.
