Natomas School Teachers Given Pink Slips

The mood was somber throughout the Natomas Unified School District where 95 teachers were hand-delivered preliminary pink slips by their school principals this afternoon.
Elsewhere in the region, individual school districts have approved issuing between 100 and more than 1,000 pink slips.

Natomas district officials said they expect transfer and reassignment to be complete and final pink slips issued by May 15. Layoff notices for non-teaching positions are expected later this month.

Thanks for all your timely efforts to keep people informed about what’s happening in the schools. I’m a parent and teacher in the district, and often I can find things out from you even before I hear it through the official channels.

Depending on seniority and credentials held, teachers may be moved from one school to another. Sometimes this is by the teacher’s request, and sometimes it is imposed because the teacher is “bumped” or due to program needs.

Do you know if these 95 pink slips include the ones that were delivered in February? Or are these new ones?

  6. The pinks slips handed out on Friday were authorized by Natomas Unified School District board action in February.
