Get Involved: Chance To Help Natomas Youth

Inderkum High School is providing mandatory lunchtime tutoring and study hall for all freshman students who have three or more F’s. These students are required to attend for three weeks.

At the three-week point, students’ grades are pulled and if their F’s are gone they are free to have lunch with their friends.

“We would LOVE to have more adult assistance during these sessions from 11:15-12:05 and 12:15-1:00 daily,” says Principal Leslie Sargent. “We know that the freshman who fail two or more classes most commonly become our dropouts. They also often have truancy issues.”

Sargent says school officials find that the students involved in the tutoring sessions enjoy the one-on-one interaction and help they receive at lunch time and most students from the first group improved their grades and graduated out!
