Gardenland Preschooler Dies In Hit-And-Run

The 4-year-old preschooler struck during a hit-and-run accident this morning has died, Twin Rivers Unified School district officials confirmed this afternoon. The accident occurred at about 8 a.m. when the Smythe Academy student was hit by a vehicle while walking to school with his grandmother and older brother.

The vehicle was exiting the school parking lot when it hit the boy and dragged him several feet before fleeing south on Northgate Blvd. Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene and transported the boy to the UC Davis Medical Center where he later died from his injuries

“We’re devastated about the loss of this child and are doing whatever we can to support his family, fellow students, staff, and community,” Twin Rivers Unified School District spokeswoman Trinette Marquis told NATOMASBUZZ.COM. “We hope anyone with information about this incident will step forward and tell police.”

The vehicle was described as a newer, dark colored sedan, possibly a Maxima, and may have front end damage. The driver was described as a man with a dark complexion.
