Teens Leave Their Mark On New Center

On Wednesday, 20 youth from Stanford Settlement’s Teen Center program left their mark in the sidewalk outside the new Carl R. Hansen Teen Center.

The teens, along with agency staff, put their hand prints and initials in the freshly poured concrete sidewalk outside the new building, thanks to Commercial Building Specialists. Anticipation has grown among the teens as the building has taken shape this summer.

Stanford Settlement Neighborhood Center is a private, non-profit social service agency serving the north area of Sacramento. Their Teen Center program is a social development and delinquency prevention program for area youth in 7th through 12th grades.

Since 1975, youth from the Gardenland/Northgate, North Sacramento, and Natomas communities have been attending the Teen Center program, which has outgrown its current space.

The Carl R. Hansen Teen Center will be a 10,600 square foot building, complete with full court indoor basketball, study room/computer lab, kitchen, game room, and more. CBS Construction anticipates completion of the facility by November 2009.
