A Look At Natomas Crime Stats For May

Here’s a look at preliminary crime statistics for Natomas during May 2009 compared to the previous year as provided by Sac PD Capt. Daniel Hahn:

Police District 1C (Gardenland/Northgate)

* Residential burglaries went down 71% (14 to 4)
* Vehicle burglaries went up 133% (3 to 7)
* Stolen cars went down 46% (15 to 8)
* Robberies went down 50% (2 to 1)
* Assaults w/o a firearm went up 200% (1 to 3)

Police District
1B (South Natomas)

* Residential burglaries went down 40% (22 to 13).
* Vehicle burglaries went down 33% (33 to 22)…but the total number is still high
* Stolen cars went down 18% (22 to 18)
* Assault w/o a firearm went up from 0 to 3.

Police District 1A
(North Natomas)

* Residential Burglaries went down 48% (31 to 18). This is the first decrease in 2 months
* Vehicle Burglaries went down slightly by 2% (44 to 43)…but these numbers are still very high.
* Stolen cars went up 38% (26 to 36).
* Robberies (unspecified) went down 66% (3 to 1). Robberies have gone down or stayed even every month this year so far.
* Felony Assaults (no firearm) went up from 0 to 3
* Felony Assaults (w/ firearm) went down from 2 to 0

***Residential burglaries went down in every area of Natomas
***Robberies went down in every area of Natomas
*** Felony Assaults with a firearm went down in every area of Natomas
***Felony Assaults without a firearm went up in every area of Natomas.

“This is fairly good news on most of the crime categories but vehicle crimes (ie car burglaries and stolen cars) are still fairly high in Natomas,” says Capt. Hahn. “We continue to put out “bait” cars and work on the high incident areas. Keep calling in the suspicious activity and we will get these crimes to go the other direction.
