In The News: Nuts Removed From School Menus

Due to a recent recall of peanuts and peanut products, the Natomas Unified School District Food Services division temporarily removed all peanut products from distribution to students.

Peanut crackers containing salmonella were identified in processed products sold non-commodity to retail markets.

The USDA and California Dept. of Education have stated that none of the peanut butter or peanuts in question were distributed through the USDA commodity programs to California schools. However, as a precautionary measure, the district has removed all peanut products until further notice
