Sac PD wants to alert our senior neighbors to an elder scam that has been occurring recently.
Keep in mind that EVERYONE should do the following if someone asks for money or anything else at your door:
- Ask for Identification
- Ask for the name of the company and phone number
- Attempt to call the company and see if they are going door to door soliciting and if they know the name of the person at your door.
Every year there are people who attempt to scam the elderly out of money and some are very successful in getting elderly residents to empty their bank accounts and give the bad guys thousands of dollars.
